Rooster Rescue

My final photo assignment in my b&w film camera class was to do a series of photos demonstrating narrative and connection. Since I do not think that way I was stymied. In desperation this morning I went out with a wine glass, a gallon of water and a lawn chair with plans of posing them here and there. I gave up on the chair as being unwieldy and went happily about my business of posing the glass in the middle of the highway, on the railway line etc etc. Under a somewhat insalubrious overpass I met an extremely thirsty rooster who knocked over my wine glass in his eagerness to imbibe its contents. His friend quickly joined him. They looked like fighting cocks that had been abandoned in the desert. It is my avowed intent to go out there each day and fill up a container of water for them. I had been thinking of doing photos of the homeless people who sit near the Walmart parking lot with their 'God Bless' signs and sleeping dogs. Unfortunately I couldn't find any of them. Where did they go? Isn't it too early for them to flee in a northerly direction? The roosters made a fair substitute I guess. I hope the teacher will find Meaning in my meaningless photos.
