On the Road Again...

Happy 102nd, Mom, Forty years gone but you could still be bright as a cracker in some great old folks home dispensing bad advice to all.
I awoke this morning on a beach at Lake Lahontan in Nevada. The lake was built around 1900 to encourage homesteaders with irrigation. Think Angle of Repose. Now it is red neck heaven with endless beaches ringed with cottonwoods and beautiful water. I swam in the morning light and the dogs went mad as jackrabbits displayed their transparent ears tauntingly. A man rowed by silently in a tiny narrow yellow boat. Heaven. I have replenished my propane and will head for hills. Summer get together plans fell through. Thank you, Karen for your heroic work in trying to grab a handful of jello and form it into something! No offence to my beautiful children.... honest. I'm in the Fallon Public Library that is swarming with children. The librarian is a sari clad Indian. So far a most beautiful day.

The vision of the reservoir, the cottonwoods and the rabbits (no more buwwets!) makes me extremely envious. Please let us know when you are nearby so we cna see you. I am sorry the summer has ended up such a mess. We are free in August - the kids are gone for a week so we will be backpacking, and we will be up at Olallie for a time. You are always welcome!
