Acoustic Eidolon

Snow is just falling stars. We've been getting quite a few of them lately. These were gone in no time this morning. Tonight it is clear and cold.

We went to a 'house concert' at the coffee place. Acoustic Eidolon were performing and it was a wonder to hear this sophisticated and slightly strange but highly accomplished music in this setting. The place was packed with: West Texas chic, that is a black coat with a silver concho with turquoise and silver beads hanging from it placed in the middle of the back and worn with a bright turquoise cowboy hat. Squash blossom necklaces over black silk. Skinny old cowboys in shirts striped in pale pink, shocking pink, deep purple and olive. Sweeping ponchos, sequined vests, ski gear, and good old sweat shirts and jeans. I have no idea who these people are or where they came from. I did see the sculptor-guide who took us to the river petroglyphs. She is also a ski instructor and she had just got off work.

Acoustic Eidolon had to be in Palestine Texas for a performance tomorrow. A long long drive. AE consists of a classical cello player and a man who plays two headed guitars which are custom made for him. Everybody loved them. I recommend them to all but head bangers and maybe even them.

I had another cancer surgery yesterday. The cello player is a cancer survivor whose mother died of cancer. She sang a song called 'Shape of a woman' which I liked a lot though I suppose it was a bit sentimental. There's nothing Inconsequential about Cancer!

Our Poets and Others meeting actually became animated and even a little testy today. I insisted on getting helpful criticism on a story I'm slaving over. I made very clear that I wanted and needed their suggestions and by jove I got them!
The germ spread to other people's work and I think it was a good thing. Before every one was either politely silent or kind when we spread our poor offerings before the assembly.

Good Night.
